I don’t think this problem occurs because of your Android version or phone model. I believe it is related with WhatsApp itself. These bugs are appearing after the update. They fix it soon though. Alternatively you can try reinstall the application. Don’t forget to get backup of your conversations. Remove WhatsApp from your phone. Install it from Play Store again and then restore your backups. This can work at times but not always.
