There are a few ways to resolve this problem. I have faced this problem at another Android phone, this is what I have done:
You need to force stop the application on your phone. Go to settings of your phone and then select apps. Find WhatsApp in your application list and tap on the icon of the application. Tap on force stop. Launch WhatsApp.
If WhatsApp is keep crashing on your phone, you will need to kill it first. However since we all setup WhatsApp to work at background, the application still goes on to work despite of crashing. So force stop will fix the temporary problems with the application. Then go to your main screen and run WhatsApp again.
Alternatively you can also restart your phone if you haven’t done it. Restarting phone is similar with force stop. All applications will be killed after you start your phone. This can also help WhatsApp to work properly.
If what Artemisia told didn’t work you, you can reinstall the application on your device. Ensure that you have cleared all files of the app. Please also don’t forget to backup before reinstalling WhatsApp.
